Calculate your assignment grades using weighted points or percentages. Enter your assignments with their scores and weights to determine your overall grade.
Assignment grades can be calculated using either a weighted system where each assignment has a specific weight or importance, or a points-based system where assignments are worth different point values. The calculator supports both methods to give you accurate grade calculations.
There are two main methods for calculating assignment grades:
Weighted Grade (Percentage Weights)
Weighted Grade = (Grade₁ × Weight₁%) + (Grade₂ × Weight₂%) + (Grade₃ × Weight₃%) + ...
Used when weights are expressed as percentages that sum to 100%
Weighted Grade (Point Weights)
Weighted Grade = (Grade₁ × Weight₁ + Grade₂ × Weight₂ + ...) / (Weight₁ + Weight₂ + ...)
Used when weights are expressed as points or arbitrary values
Three assignments with percentage weights:
Weighted Grade = (85 × 0.30) + (92 × 0.40) + (78 × 0.30) = 25.5 + 36.8 + 23.4 = 85.7%
Result: 85.7% (B)
Four assignments with point values:
Total Points = 45 + 38 + 28 + 76 = 187 out of 200 possible = 93.5%
Result: 93.5% (A)
Homework and projects with different weights:
Weighted Grade = (88 × 0.40) + (92 × 0.30) + (85 × 0.30) = 35.2 + 27.6 + 25.5 = 88.3%
Result: 88.3% (B+)
Most schools use a standard letter grade scale to convert percentage scores:
A (Excellent)
90-100%
B (Good)
80-89%
C (Satisfactory)
70-79%
D (Passing)
60-69%
F (Failing)
Below 60%
