Simplify ratios, find equivalent ratios, and solve proportions with automatic calculations.
A ratio is a comparison between two or more quantities, showing how many times one value contains or is contained within another. Ratios are written as A:B or A/B.
Example: A ratio of 3:2 means for every 3 units of the first quantity, there are 2 units of the second.
To simplify a ratio, divide both terms by their greatest common divisor (GCD). This reduces the ratio to its simplest form while maintaining the same relationship.
Example: 12:8 simplifies to 3:2 (divided by GCD of 4)
A proportion states that two ratios are equal: A:B = C:D. You can solve for a missing value using cross multiplication: A × D = B × C.
Example: If 2:3 = 4:x, then x = (3 × 4) ÷ 2 = 6
Equivalent ratios represent the same relationship. You can create equivalent ratios by multiplying or dividing both terms by the same number.
Example: 1:2, 2:4, 3:6, and 5:10 are all equivalent ratios
